This year, Wildcare and premium optics brand Bushnell teamed up to give keen trail camera photographers a chance of winning a pair of Bushnell Prime binoculars, a £100 Wildcare gift voucher and loads of Wildcare goodies.

The competition closed at the end of June, and we had loads of brilliant entries. We loved every single one, so we're keen to show you some of our favourites, highly commended entries and the winner. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Highly Commended

We could only have one winner, but it was so difficult to choose we selected three highly commended entries too!

Badgers moving sett with cubs by Daisy Hermit

Daisy was lucky to capture this beautiful footage of badgers moving home with their cubs.

Daisy shared... This was a large badger sett that I had got permission to film - I only had the camera (Bushnell Core DS low glow) there for a few days and I was super lucky to see cubs being moved. This video is a few clips from the same night joined together. There were at least 2 adults coming and going from this hole and you can see one of them brings fresh bedding in before two cubs are moved from a different part of the set. Hope you like it as much as I did!

Fox with morning dew - Jack Bage

While carrying out badger surveys, Jack captured a fox who knows exactly how to pose for the camera!

Jack said... This image of a fox was taken on a Browning DARK OPS PRO XD during a survey of a badger sett. Foxes and badgers are known to frequently co-habit a network of tunnels and chambers. You can see the morning dew on the foxes face, picked up from its morning walk.

Polecat meets Fox - Matthew Bright

13 year old Matthew uses their trail camera in local woodlands, and captured this interaction between a fox and polecat.

Matthew shared... I have been trying to learn about the different animals that live in the woods. I have been moving the wildlife camera from place to place in the woods for almost one year. I have captured some amazing sights including badgers fighting, some huge stags munching on leaves, a fox carrying a small rodent in its mouth, an owl flying above and lots of other wonderful things. This is one of my many favourites because of the interaction between the fox and the polecat. This is also the only polecat I have captured so far. My dream is to become a wild life ranger saving animal lives and looking after them from poachers and other harm.

And the winner is...

Hedgehog Head Butt - Paul Baisley

Paul supplies homes and food for hedgehogs in their garden, and monitors them using a trail camera.

Paul said... This particular hedgehog, for some reason took a disliking to my trail cam and decided to head butt it, knocking it flying!!

Congratulations to our winner, highly commended entries and everyone else who entered. We’re sure we can all agree that it’s wonderful what trail cameras allow us to see of the natural world when humans aren’t around.
